A record set for Chicago

For those who say it hasn't snowed much lately.....take a look at the new record that was broken for Chicago.

The National Weather Service out of Romeoville, IL has issued a statement claiming this is the 4th consecutive year that we have seen above 50" of snow.

2007-2008............60.3"
2008-2009............52.7"
2009-2010.............54.2"
2010-2011..............53.4" (as of Feb. 16th 2011)

Here is how this compares with the late 1970s and early 1980s:

1976-1977...............54.1"
1977-1978...............82.3"
1978-1979................89.7"
1979-1980................42.2"

The blizzard of 2011 certainly helped bump up our snow totals this season. We would be sitting at 33" right now if it wasn't for the blizzard, but that isn't the case and in turn a record was broken.
